Tilt and Fire Escape Options
Tilt Facility
All of our PVCu sash windows have a tilt facility option and is available on both top and bottom sashes. This makes cleaning of the outside glass very easy and also allows enhanced ventilation. We fit a pair of tilt restrictors made from stainless steel to ensure sufficient strength and durability. Our restrictors are blunt in order to avoid damage to the brush piles and subsequent deterioration of the window's thermal performance.
Fire Escape
Our fire escape option is a popular choice in older properties where safety was not a consideration at the time of construction and also in windows on high floors where escape would be more difficult in the event of fire owing to the height and additional staircases.
The fire exit position is very simple to achieve by simply sliding the tilt knob away from the frame and pulling the bottom sash gently towards you. The aperture is not a uniform size and depends on the dimensions of the window, but an average size window allows enough room for a normal adult to pass through.
